Aus to US stopovers

Clutching at straws but..

Does anyone know a good place for a stopover between Sydney and San Francisco? It's a longer flight than I'm comfortable with really:o

TIA

If you stop off at one of the usual islands all you will be doing is adding to your journey. Anything that would cut the journey in half, or anywhere near that, will be sea. Seriously, look at a map!

  • Depending on the airline you choose and the route they take, Fiji and Hawaii are popular stopovers. You might like to consider The Cook Islands with Air New Zealand.

I have been, I don't mind adding a day or 3 to the trip if it's somewhere nice to visit.

Thanks, I was thinking Hawaii but many people say it's not as nice as you'd imagine it would be.

Never thought of the Cook islands -I will consult my map;)

I travelled from Aus to LA in the early 90s and routed via Guam (not that nice) and stopped at 2 other islands in Micronesia ,Ponape which was unspoilt and beautiful then the Marshall islands which was just a atoll with a few trees a small town and airport. This was done with Continental Airlines but I am not sure whether they still do that route.
