Hi.We recently moved into a house, the previous ownner was a plumber and had not long fitted a Vaillant EcoMax Pro condenser boiler. Its been working ok for hot water and heating until now, when I would like it on constant for a few days and it wont stay on. The house is cold, so I know its not turning off due to the temperature. The thermostat is clicking at aroud 10 - 15 º and I am leaving it on at 25º in the attempt to warm up the house! The control box in the airing cupboard I have put the hot water and heating on to constant. The boiler still has the green light - no red light or error showing up. The radiators do come on occasionally so it does work. Im just hoping I have missed something somewhere - can anyone help please?!!

Thanks. The central heating mode was on around 40 and after I read the online instructions I turned it up to 80, but the heating didnt kick in (like I hoped it would!) There isnt really anything else I can obviously turn up that Im aware of.0

Is your room thermostat calling for heat, if you have Thermostatic radiator valves turn them up a bit.
Does the hot water work OK, i,e the boiler fires up when you turn on a hot tap. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
The condensor pipe looks ok, not sure where to find the pressure gauge - cant see anything obvious on the bolier so hubby has gone looking upstairs in the airing cupboard (I have the baby asleep on me lol)
The thermostat on the hallway is turned up, as are the radiator thermostats. We just ran the hot water for a bit and the boiler kicked in so that seems fine!

Just looked at the handbook, you have an open vented system, you have both hot and cold water storage.
There will not be a pressure gauge.
The only other thing to check would be the three way motorised valve, there if one of you changes the programmer so its water, heating, then both, you should here it whirring and a little lever on the side will move.

Thanks, will get him to look there now. When the boiler clicked in when we ran the water, it stayed on for a few minutes, warmed the rads a bit, but then turned off again.0

It sounds like the diverter valve may be stuck if the rads are getting warm when it's warming the hot water cylinder.
Do the radiators get hot at all when you click the stat on in the hall?In Progress!!!0 -
No, clicking the thermostat doesnt do anything. We have it set at 25 and you have to turn it down to around 10 - 15 to hear it click. Hubby couldnt find the three way valve either (I shall try and look tomorrow but Im just as useless!!) I think we will have to persevere with blankets and extra jumpers til we can find a resonably priced plumber. Thanks for the help guys xx0

Might be a good idea to post a picture of your airing cupboard up so someone can help you find the three way motorised valve. you may be able to unstick it yourselves. In Progress!!!0
