I get a local gas firm to service my boiler annually for about £60 or so, then I have Home Emergency Cover via my Lloyds Bank account which I used this weekend when the boiler packed up.
Rang on Sunday afternoon, received a call from the firm appointed to the job by Sunday evening, engineer rang Bank Holiday Monday to confirm his arrival and he turned up on time and fixed the problem within the hour! Infact all done within 24 hours. Well worth it on this occasion as it's a combination boiler so no hot water or heating.

Not sure I would pay the asking price of some companies, but for my package where I get far more than boiler cover i'm happy, although previously I have just put the money in a savings account!

I must admit I haven't had our boiler serviced in the 4 years we've had it & it broke down on the Bank Holiday after Xmas.
The local guy who installed it originally came out within 4hrs, cleaned out a very dirty blocked condensate reservoir & charged us £30.
( & told us off for not having it serviced !)
Local guy every time for us!

my plumber ! rang 6pm, he was knocking on the front door 10 mins later! bless him. I do however have to listen to him complain about my boiler everytime he comes to look at it! He hates it!
