SKYHD Box & Video - is this possible?

Hi, I'm asking this question on behalf of my husband. We previously had Sky+box & we were still able to use our video/dvd combi to record a 3rd analogue channel if we'd already set the box to record 2 programmes simultaneously.
We were also to watch an analogue programme if we wished to. It's just been very convenient at times but I decided to get hubby SKYHD for Christmas and we're now no longer able to do this. With Sky box turned off we have no signal. Previously the roof aerial was plugged into video recorder but now it's been plugged into back of sky box. He's tried several diferent arrangements with scart leads & reconnecting aerial to video player but with no joy. I know it's not the end of the world but it's really bugging him. Can anyone confirm if there's anyway around this niggly problem for him. Many thanks in advance.

Plug the aerial straight into your VCR and miss out the Skybox completely

He's already tried that & it doesn't make any difference but thanks for the suggestion.

And the aerial is actually connected on the roof? Having Sky+ (or HD) makes no difference to the aerial unless the installer knocked it or something.

I have aerial into the SkyHD+ Box then out into the television through RF1 (although it could go to a video recorder) and then use RF2 to put the signal around the house.

So theoretically, you should have Aerial into SkyHD+ Box, out from RF1 to Video Recorder and then from Video recorder to the back of the television (to pass on the signal) and then perhaps SCART or RGB from Video Recorder into the television to get a better signal to watch back your recorded programs.
