If you can't get hold of your landlord you are going to have to call a plumber in. A week without water is not funny. In these circumstances it would be totally reasonable to contact a plumber yourself. First port of call would be a plumber that the landlord has used before if you know who that would be.
I would also send a text and email to the landlord in case he does pick up messages abroad.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I have emailed him, but the time difference is going to cause a delay if he does check whilst abroad. We don't have a mobile number for him and there isn't a voicemail on his landline. I have also emailed his business partner who also looks after our tenancy. Will a plumber be able to do anything to help?** Also I wouldn't be able to pay a bill from a plumber at the moment until the LL can deal with it(due to other joyous Xmas hassles with housing benefit )
** I mean can they do much before it defrosts, and if it is coming in from next door we can't access it anyway. (Realised that sounded silly without clarification!)Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -
What a plumber can do and when, depends on the problem. If it is a partly exposed pipe that has frozen they could defrost it, check for leaks and lag it. If it is frozen deep underground, there may be little they can do.
A plumber have more joy than you in sourcing the problem. I agree that the fact that you are adjoining an inaccessable building makes it more difficult.
Do you have a loft? With water tank/ pipes in it? Have you walked round the outside of the building looking for pipework?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Just had a thought. Is the office alarmed? If so the alarm company should have a list of key holders, so may the police.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I tried the police, thinking as you do. Unfortunately they have all the same information as we doThank you for trying to help. We have looked outside and can't find anything. We are above freezing here and no signs of any water. We are now wondering if one of their drivers switched the water off in the office without knowing it would also do ours?? Have ordered lots of tesco value water for our delivery tomorrow! Will help a bit. The police did attempt the water service provider for us, but couldn't get through as lines are so busy.
Will try to speak to the local police in the morning as they may be able to speak to people in the key holders village, however her family live in England and I think she may have gone away for Xmas as well :eek:Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0
