Holdall For Hand Luggage

This will probably be a stupid question but I've got Boxing Day brain freeze.

I'm travelling later today, taking a soft holdall. It's a bit bigger in dimensions than hand luggage allowances but will only be half full and will easily squueze into the hand luggage size guide at the airport. Will I be ok?

Thanks for your help.

  • Should be fine, they make you squash it into a cage of the correct dirmensions.

If you are in any doubt, you could always get some elasticated ties or belt type things to squeeze the bag to make it smaller.

Do let us know how you get on.

It's just the sort of thing some jobsworth would pick up on "Excuse me, but your bag is larger than the stated dimesions in our terms & conditions." "Yes, but it fits in the cage" " But the terms state your bag should be no largert than XX by XX by XX"

    Hope I am wrong.

We regularly use a holdall like this, once through the bag check we unload our pockets into it! Never had any problems.

As above, you may get someone on a bad day.

And I suppose it depends on which airline and how strict they are.
