oil in passenger footwell

Options
hi,
i have a T reg fiat brava and i have noticed there is an oily type liquid in the passenger side footwell. when i had the car serviced they mentioned one of the forks was leaking but i havent had a chance to get that fixed. do you think that is what is leaking into the footwell? how urgent would it be to get it fixed and how much would it cost?? if it isnt that any suggestions on what it could be??
thanks - this is my first car so it is a steep learning curve!!
i wish i was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum,
'cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum!!!

  • i very much doubt that it would have leaked in from the outside , the more likely explanation would be a greasy foot from the machanic

brake cleaner is very good at removing oil stains from the carpet
    speed is good

Could be brake fluid running down the brake peddle from the master cylinder. Best to check all fluid levels.

I once had a heating matrix fail which left fluid in the passenger footwell. Worth getting it checked.

Some cars have the servo system on that side.

Dip a finger in the oil and touch it on the tongue. If it is bitter it is brake fluid.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
