I've been looking at radio control clocks myself recently to use as accurate studio clocks, and analogue (tick tick, not sweep, sorry) ones start at just £20, which is cheaper than the LCD ones! So I think I may treat myself to a few :-)

Aldi had them for £9.99 each last week, I purchased one for my Daughter.

    4 different designs.

Not sure if they will have any left, 3 year warranty.

They are sweep ones, so no tick tock.

Thanks Inactive, Depending on how my rechargeable battery trial goes I will consider popping into Aldi, but hopefully with the right batteries I will be able to make my Acctim clocks usable.

Here is a link to them, there are 4 different designs, but they are on a one off, weekly offer, so they may sell out quickly.

perhaps they may have more instore, but out of interest which of these do you think might be better for trial.
    Thanks

The top two (hybrid/alwaysready) are low self discharge models, so should perfrom well in clocks (clocks permitting!)

Btw thanks to Inactive - I wish there was an Aldi nearby, closest is a £7 train away and I can't buy online, apparently! I appreciate the kind thought though!

I got a couple of clocks around the house and all batteries last well over a year so something cant be right with yours. I have been used cheap batteries odd time if I got hold of some rather than use other batteries

My Aldi radio control clock works for almost 2 years. M&S carriage clock in living room around a year and a basic Tesco clock for a couple of quid which I keep in garage (as I dont wear a watch) also I say last at least 9 months and all keep time

    Dont think so ;)

I got two garages well one is a old garage cant use as a garage its sued for storing logs, lawn mower, paint etc now the other is a utility room

I keep clock near the window in the garage so when I am in garden I can look through window without having to walk the whole way round

If it were me I would phone manufacturer to query the problem: either they are both similarly faulty which seems strange, or they obviously draw a lot of current as standard.

Either way I would say they are unfit for purpose -there is no way you would buy them and expect to change the batteries six time per year.

The trouble is now, if I read it correctly you have had them two years.

An average battery life in such a clock is around 12 months.
