I am sure many people are having the same problem with the heating not working?
I have tried getting a plumber out but have been unable so far due to so many having the same problem and the time of year also!
I am sure the problem is frozen pipes so my question is cn i do anything about it or is it a matter of waiting for the pipes to defrost?
I tried pouring hot water over the pipes but made no difference!
The most difficult thing is having a 3 1/2 yr old daughter being cold from time to time!

it could be the pump thats gone meaning the boiler lights and runs but the pump wont push it around pouring warm water over it is the only solution if they are frozen i suggest you lagg them up for the cold nights to come nice thick foam covers around them will stop it you can pick them up for a few quicd at diy stores0

If you are unable to resolve the current problem then alternative heating, (electric rads?) seems sensible to tide you over.
Reliance on any single system can tempt fate, and its sods law that it will break down just at the wrong time. So its worth considering investing in back up such as open fire/woodburner/standalone heaters and also a camping stove for cooking in a power cut.0 -
I spent a few weeks ago when the bad weather first started with no heating or water and 3 whining teens in a big country farmhouse- stone walls/concrete floors or tiles/single glazing and absolutely no insulation or cavity wall, it really is not conducive to happy families at all. Eventually the plumber arrived and the pump had frozen then broken so had to be replaced. He told me that in future i should lag all pipes and that i should take a hair dryer and heat up and down the pipes and that i should never pour boiling water over them as they can burst. (I had been doing this) and yes he had to replace quite a few pipes. I have now bought coal/ wood for a previously disused fire, which had been sealed and covered over and bought 6 oil filled radiators for emergency use in the coldest rooms. All kids have been given new pjs/housecoats/slippers/electric blankets and bed throws and a couple of hot water bottles under the sink, so hopefully we wont be cold again
