Anyone with Plumbing Experience?

Hello folks and Happy Christmas!
Christmas morning, we woke to find the water pressure was very low. So I filled up bowl kettle and pans to make sure I had enough water to prepare and cook Christmas Dinner.
As the water pressure continued to drop the toilet in the bathroom (one of the more recent built in types where the is no easy access to the "cistern") went into a constant slow flush. I wondered if the low pressure was affecting it..
A little later, I found water dripping through the kitchen ceiling below.
I switched off the water from the stopcock outside and went ahead with Christmas dinner.
Later I removed the bath panel to see if there were any burst pipes but there was nothing to be seen.
I found out most of our area had the same loss of pressure, eventually ending up with no water for a while.
When I heard that supplies had been restored, I put a bowl below the leak from the ceiling and switched the stopcock back on so that I could wash the dishes and clear up.
To my surprise the leak has stopped and so far no water is coming through. The toilet is back to normal too.
Normally I would call a plumber, but it won't be so easy over the holiday and I haven't got a problem that needs fixing......
Has anyone ever experienced similar issues, or any advice (I'm not a confident DIYer)?
My plan is to watch for now to see if the leak recurs then switch off the water overnight just in case, then get a plumber on the case after the holiday.
Cheers

It seemed a bit more than that (I'd guess at least couple of pints before I switched the water off), but so far so good.
My daughter has just had a bath and emptied that with no problems too.
When I noticed the leak, my daughter was having a shower (over the bath)... now I'm wondering if an outlet pipe somewhere was frozen?0 -

Are you sure she did not have the shower head pointing so that the spray hit the rim of the bath and ran off onto the floor ?You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

I don't think so... and the floor is tiled and there was no sign of water.
Still no more leaks... keeping my fingers crossed, but still a little worried!0
