My sons netbook has developed a line of white pixels down the middle of the screen and typically the guarantee ran out 5 days ago!

And was it purchased in store or delivered, has it previously been repaired?
Any decent place that does individual laptop repairs should do replacement screens... for a 10.1 (assumption) screen expect to pay roughly £50 parts...0 -
Definately worth calling their Tech Support and seeing if they can make an exception given how close it is to being under warranty.0

Remember, goods must be durable, and even if it fails after your warranty expires, you have a case for free repair, a laptop that fails in around a year or more is not durable. Gheck the consumer sites and also search this site.0
