Ps 2coming up with black and white screen.

Just got this off ebay today from charity hospice and its been tested as working.
Comes up in black and white on tv , tried resetting the options on tv, tv channels come up in colour ok. its on YPbPr channel and the yellow is plugged into green white in white and red in red. checked options on ps2 and they are at RGB but also tried unplugging, resetting switching off. Games work but just no colour.
I know its something really simple but what is it.
My tv is a pentus and its always been good.:(
