Extending New Car Warranty - Help needed
I am thinking of buying a new or nearly new VW Passat Diesel car in the new year
The car will therefore have the manufacturers (VW) warranty remaining on it
My problem is that these warranties do not seem to cover wear items like cam belts - which if it wipes out the engine could be a BIG problem
What I am looking at is getting a repair warranty from such people as " "Warranty Direct" or similar
The problem is that they don't seem to take into account, in the premium, that the car has only done say 7000 miles ---- and that most items would be covered by the manufacturer so there is little risk to them ......... so they should reduce the premium to allow for that
Please help me ...... does anyone know of a car repair warranty company that will just EXTEND the manufacturers warranty to just give that extra peace of mind that wear or contibutory failure would let the manufacturer off the hook and leave me to pick up the pieces
Help appreciated ..... any comments from personal experience apprecated too
Pete

If you buy your car second hand from a Volkswagen dealer they will probably offer to extend the warranty for you. The cost depends on the model.
I bought a 5 year old Golf from a VW dealer last March and was given a further year's warranty as part of the deal.
That reminds me to get my cruise control fixed come the New Year!0
