    I'm sorry that we have had to cancel the Tesco.com Book orders you placed in December for the Gordon Ramsay book. I appreciate how very disappointing this must be for you, especially as you have been advised of other people who have actually received this.

    We always aim to offer our customers the very best service possible and this includes sending them the items they ordered in a timely manner. Regrettably, problems can arise and sometimes this means we can't sell you the product you wanted.

    On this occasion, the price of this book was incorrectly advertised at £0.00 and as this was clearly an error, we have now cancelled all outstanding orders for this. Due to the stock issues we have had with the book, this error was not discovered until recently as we were due further stocks and this is the reason why you have had updates regarding when we were likely to dispatch this. If this had been discovered at the time, the orders would have been cancelled then.

    There were some customers whose orders were placed and dispatched before the error came to light and this meant the orders were already sent so we were unable to stop these. I do understand this doesn't seem fair especially as you have missed out, however as soon as the error was discovered, the business have taken the decision to cancel all these outstanding orders as this was an error.

    An error like this should never have occurred and I'm very sorry we've let you down. I can assure you this has been investigated with the Tesco.com Books team so we can do everything we can to ensure a mistake like this doesn't happen again as we don't want our customers to be left disappointed because we are unable to fulfil their orders.

    I would like to thank you for taking the time to ask me about this and I do hope despite the error this time you will give us another chance in the future to provide you with the service you expect from us.

    I also had the same email, although my account states the order is 'not yet dispatched' and stock is expected Feb 23rd...doesnt say cancelled but the email they sent does. Very confusing.
    Please God, help me stop spending!

  • I got a reply and a £5 voucher, tell them that you didn't expect this level of service from tesco and that you will be taking your weekly shop elsewhere.

    Yay!! Just got a second email back, this time with a code for £5!! I think this is actually better than the £3 Gordon Ramsey book!!! :beer:

    That's pretty bad, they were really apologetic in the second email. I said that a friend had received a £5 voucher and wondered why they treat customers differently, the response was that each complaint is dealt with by a different team member so it is up to each individual at tesco to decide how to treat your email.
    I'd email again asking why you haven't received a response yet.

    (I had to email them about something else a few days and had received two replies within 24hrs which I thought was pretty good service)
