If you work full time then surely you earn more than £60 a week, so if her tax credits go down by £140 you still have to add your wages into the equation0

Love seems to be a dirty word when it comes to benefit entitlement!
OP, who pays the mortgage at present?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Sorry guys havent made myself as clear as i should. The £80 per week we simply dont have - we wouldnt have enough for all the bills combined even with the savings of rent, council tax etc etc. We went through it all and the £80 per week is the best case taking everything into account.
Regarding the love comment - I would want to spend every minute possible but when there is a child who could be missing out then it becomes a bit more than our feelings for each other.
She pays the mortage at present alone.
Sorry if i've missed some Q's0 -
it might be best if i post all the finances.
The one thing we looked at is if i moved in as a Tenant....now i know this isnt strictly true but the benefits calculator takes into account rent from other parties and based on this the benefits would drop but not by the drastic amount that we couldnt afford it
do you think this is an option? again i am open to opinions0 -
Is selling and starting again together in a cheaper property an option? I know it isn't for everybody, with so many in negative equity. She has a very expensive mortgage though, no wonder its a struggle.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Sixer - sorry i missed your comment. YEs thats something we are looking into. her current IO mortgage at 7.3% ends in July 2011 and will drop to around 3.5 - 4% which would save around £350-£400 a month. That would be an achievable situation and work well.......maybe we should wait until then??0

hi Janine - I see the point and there must be others doing it however i realise this is wrong. last resort really. Selling isnt the option as the mortgage is £134k and the value now around £129k0

If you are in a relationship you can not move in as a tenant, if she has a spare room could she not advertise it for rent to make up the £80 you would loose if you move in with her?2012 wins:
Thank you to all competition posters0
