contract ended on friday
Please carefully read your contract before appointing another agent. A quick read of this thread will show my experiences with "expired" EA contracts!Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -
The contract ended on Friday and you want to get the police involved because a sign is still up on Monday. Don't you think that is overeacting just a little.
The estate agent round thecorner from us employs a guy with a van to put up and take down signs, but he's not full time, only works two mornings a week. I would imagine most estate agents do something similar.
Take the sign down yourself if it bothers you that much and send them a friendly Email requesting they remove your house form the website. I would give them a week, to do so before you start complaining.0 -
did i say i was going to send the police around? it was a question not a statement, can a question possibly be asked without mouth being given back?0

The contract ended four days ago.....cut them some slack! All agents employ a third party company to put up/take down boards, bearing in mind that most of them don't work weekends I think you are being a little hasty. The same goes for the website, these things take time.
The police wouldn't be interested in the fact that a board is outside your house, they have more serious things to deal with like, murders, rapes and catching people speeding lol!My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say
Ignore......check!0 -
The regulation of display of signs outside homes is a town planning matter, hence if there were to be a complaint, it would need to be directed to the local council offices.
The planning regulations I believe state that estate agents signs must be taken down within 14 days of the completion of the sale, otherwise the agents will be committing an offence.
However, the opening poster indicates that the contract has "come to an end...", which I suspect means that the property is not sold, merely that this agent's agreement has been cancelled.
Most agents contracts do not expire naturally, it is necessary to provide written notice of cancellation once the sole agency period has expired, otherwise the agecny continues until such time as written notice is given.
bs0u0128 - you need to ensure that you have actually given WRITTEN NOTICE or you could find that your agreement is in fact still going - DO NOT APPOINT any other agent until you are absolutely certain that the first agreement is terminated.
You should also obtain a written list of all buyers that your first agent claims they have introduced and query any that have not arranged a viewing. If you appoint another agent, get them to verify the first agents list and confirm that if anyone on the list comes through them, the first agent will get the commission so you don't get charged twice !
Or sell your home privately and don't pay commission to any agent....0 -
hiya, yes i do have a list of contacts, plus written notice from the ea on the date it terminated, and have kept them all safe in case lol0
