hi , you might want to look at this link

You may have to register at loquax first. To cut along story short...
Strongbow arent replying to emails ive been sending them for the last few weeks
Positively Stinking (!) are trying to stick to the one entry per phone. Yet they are bribing people with 6 odeon tickets to "go away and shut up, on the condition that they dont broadcast the fact on discussion forums". bit late or that i think. They are also giving various amounts of Odeon tickets to people who enter 100 times or more. But Positively Stinking are saying its not a bribe , its a good will gesture. I suggest they buy a dictionary for christmas , and look up the meaning of " bribe"....
I and others have contacted the ISP, Institute of Sales Promotions, who have in turn got the ASA , Advertising Standards Authority involved.Who are looking into the whole mess
And someone has contacted the Press, The Mirror are interested in the matter
My name is not garynumanfan on loquax, but i wont be too difficult to work out who i am .....0 -
Got another 5 tickets in the post this week
its nice to see so many people have benefited from my post :j"what lies behind us & what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us" Ralph Waldo Emerson0 -
another five , so how many have you had in total . all entries from same phone ??0

happy christmas of course and maybe before you drink another pint of strongbow, may you think of all the less fortunate than you , with only one Odeon ticket to my name. instead of all the ones that Strongbow/Odeon /Bargain booze owe us all. Happy christmas0

friend has received a letter from ASA about this mess
"We are considering your complaint and shall reply shortly with more information I should make it clear at this stage that our remit only extends to the advertising material itself and, although we often tell advertisers to amend or withdraw advertising material that breaches our Code we have no powers to obtain any kind of refund for consumers or obtain prizes they believe are due to them."

"so unhappy with this promotion"
thats a bit of an understatement to say the least... its a mess. strongbow not even replying to all the emaiks ive sent them. PT are saying nothing to do with them , the matter is closed. Its not looking too promising at the moment. Unless The Mirror have come up with anything. Has everyone read the link i put on here from Loquax ?? There a lot more to it on Loquax, than just the posts on this site. There are LOTS AND LOTS of VERY unhappy people who entered this promotion0 -
I emailed PT this...
Dear Positive Thinking
Might want to change your name, contravention of trades descriptions act possibly. I am contacting you concerning the competition/disaster area/
b***s up , etc etc that i think you are dealing with. The competition in question is Bargain Booze/Strongbow /Most Haunted Competition , to win 1000`s of Odeon Tickets and a chance to appear in Most Haunted TV progamme. I found the A5 leaflet in Bargain Booze shop. It was a one-sided leaflet , with very few details on, other than text CHILLING and your name
and address to 60030. This competition closed at the end of November. It did say on the leaflet that the Terms and Conditions were on Strongbows website. I did look on the website , but there wasnt any terms and conditions for this competition . There were some T & Cs for a completely different competition, with a closing date of 6th November, with completely different prizes. So obviously these terms and conditions didnt apply to this one. The terms and conditions were not on the site. Nor was there any details of them on the leaflet from Baragain Booze. Neither was there any mention of any limitations on entries. I had sent over 20 texts to the number , over the space of 2 weeks , from the same mobile phone. Each time i sent a text , i was sent a text saying...........
"congratulations , you have won an Odeon ticket. A ticket will be sent to you , within 28 days "
I regularly checked Strongbows website for any T & Cs , but there wasnt any for this competition. I have lots of friends who also entered this competition , who sent numerous texts to the number, and each of them won lots of tickets. But so far we have only been sent one Odeon ticket.
I have been trying to contact Strongbow, via email at their website, but they have not replied yet. I emailed them asking when were all the other tickets going to arrive. The first email i sent them was about 2 weeks ago , but they didnt reply, so ive been emailing them everyday, but no reply as yet. I will continue to email Strongbow untill they can be bothered to reply .Some of my friends have contacted Strongbow and have been told various things.
" There was T & Cs for this competition on the site. They were the same ones that were for the other Strongbow competition being run. Though it didnt say that on the site " (Thats the competition with a different closing date and different prizes, so dont see how completely different T & Cs can apply unless it actually says they do )
" The T & Cs were on small tear-off leaflets in Bargain Booze shops" . (but they werent on the site. like Strongbow said they were) (and thats not what the A5 leaflet at Bargain Booze said)
PT say "We werent aware that the competition was being promoted on A5 leaflets " ( so Strongbow run competitions that they dont know much about then..... )
The T & Cs for this competition are now on the Strongbow site. i dont know when they actually appeared, towards the end of the promotion by the look of it , or even AFTER the closing date. The whole promotion is a shambles . I expect my Odeon tickets for all the 20 plus texts i sent, in the post ASAP, if not sooner. I had 20 plus texts from Strongbow saying i had won 20 plus tickets, so when are my other 20 plus tickets coming? So far i have only had one. Strongbow owe me all the other tickets that they havent sent me, that they said i had won. A friend of mine has
contacted Strongbow and was told that it took 24 hours for mobile phone numbers to show up on their system, so that when they received duplicate entries from the same phone, their system was supposed to pick up the duplicate entries, but it didnt. Strongbow are talking complete b*****k s.
So where are all the other tickets i`m owed ?. I have emailed the Institute of Sales Promotions about this. They have replied saying they have passed my complaint on to the Advertsing Standards Authority, for them to investigate the matter . The whole promotion is a shambles and utter disaster, and
i look forward to receiving all my other Odeon tickets from Strongbow. A friend of mine has contacted PT and has accepted a 20 ticket BRIBE to keep quiet, even though she is owed 30 Odeon tickets.
The Terms and conditions have now appeared on the Strongbow site, but i dont know why they have put them on the page concerning the Napster competition. i mean the logical place would have been on the page dealing with the Bargain Booze competition.
It sounds like Strongbow are trying to cover their !!!!!! by suddenly putting the T & Cs on the site. But as we arent all mind readers , and there was no limitations stated at the time the competition was running, i feel that Strongbow are in breach of something ,, Trades Descriptions Act , Code of Practice, Lotteries and Gaming Act, the list is endless . And we all got winning confirmation texts saying we have all won lots oif Odeon tickets. They cant deny that. friends of mine have contacted their phone companies about confirming the entry texts sent and winning texts received
I can see Strongbow trying to say ooooppps sorry , we didnt tell you that we would only accept one entry per phone number/ person whatever. But as they didnt say anything about any limitations, they can send me all the tickets that i`m entitled to , ie at least 20 if not more
I cannot believe that between Strongbow, Bargain Booze , and yourselves, you have made a complete hash of it all . I and all the other people who entered the promotion, will be expecting their Odeon tickets from Strongbow. And the sooner the better too .
Anyone for a Magners..... my taste for Strongbow has developed a nasty aftertaste.........
The address to send all my Odeon tickets is.......0 -
Rebecca Longton from PT replied with this....
Hello
Thank you for your comments. The terms and conditions for the promotion are attached. These were printed on the shelf talkers and the tear-off slips on the shelf talkers that were sited in the store and also on the website.
Please send in the A5 leaflet you refer to as we didn’t produce anything in this format, or send a copy of it if you prefer. You may be referring to the A4 promotional poster? There were some supporting materials in stores advertising the promotion, these carried the website address.
We have honoured your entry as per the terms of the promotion, which is one prize per telephone number.
Regards
Rebecca Longton
