Tube Refund Query

So I know TfL refund you if your train is 15 minutes or more late. But I wanted to question how this works.

What happens if your usual line is severely delayed, and you have to take another (longer route). Do you have to be on the train to get a refund?

How do they work it out? By checking your Oyster to see what time you entered/left the stations?

Comments

  • I have successfully claimed for situations like this in the past, where I heard of delays to the central line and I decided to avoid that line altogether and get a bus and victoria line instead.

I imagine they check your oyster history to see what journeys you normally make, to make sure you're not trying it on.
