i have two hp machines and they are excellent, both from ebay and i can highly recommend them, the laptop is a nc8230,i shopped around and got nearly £400 cheaper than new.
  • Hi,

    Thanks for that.

Unfortunately ( or lucky to have all the snow and skiing !!) I live in Austria so my options are limited!!

Laptops are cheaper in UK but so far I a have only found laptops direct that will deliver to Austria apart one who wanted £85 shipping costs!!! And most ebay will not ship here either!!. German and Austrian ebay isn't that good either!!

Yes - so did we until we moved here!!! Its another urban myth.

The postage service is not as cheap as in the UK and also credit cards are cnot that common here or in Germany so that is hard to buy off the internet.

The Acer looks like slightly better value for money and the Turion processor will give you better battery life. It looks like the Acer screen is probably better but the HP ad doesn't say what the resolution is. I'm a little biased against HP laptops as I got a bad one but that was a couple of years ago now.

I recently bought the Acer 5044 which looks very similar to the one you have listed. It's an excellent machine, looks and feels well built. I'd recommend it.
    - = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -
