Solar power the gritty
Options
Ok, so I'm sorry, but I cant read through the 85 pages of the solar power thread, but I would like to get solar power and the ? £800/year government payment. I have a south facing roof.
I have two questions -
1. How do I make sure I get the governments £800 per year?
and
2, Which company installs the panels cheapest?
Thanks

If I was considering splashing out 15 grand, I'd be prepared to spend 2 or 3 hours reading through the relevant threads, which are likely to cover all your questions and raise and answer many more you probably wouldn't have thought of - like the lower fit subsidy for 4kw systems, the life of the invertor, and the difficulty in using what you generate, amongst many other factors which would probably take another 24 pages to flush out on this new thread.0

I have looked at fitting Solar Panels. It is true what has been said many times in this forum, 'You get what you pay for'. Tesco may be cheaper than some others, but their panels are not rated as the most efficient in the industry and the inverter (the part that turns DC current into AC current) does not operate for as many hours during the day as some others do.
My advice is look for a local company to 'supply and fit' the panels. We had a great guy from the gas board one week, the next we had a dreadful experience from the gas board!
By choosing a local company, they have a reputation to maintain, they can reify any problems quickly and will want to look after their local customers.0
