halifax reward account problems

Day 1
opened a halifax reward account online through internet banking as I already have halifax accounts for the £50 incentive. After speaking to a customer services person at the call center i was told that if i had the offer in internet banking the £50 would credit the account instantly. So I opened it and the £50 did not credit but I got £1000 overdraft.

Day 2
No £50 credit and my overdraft goes down to £250

Day 3
Today and the overdraft is now £0

Is this normal behavior for the Halifax

Also does anyone have a freepost address for the halifax so I can send in a few complaints to them.

Thanks and hope everyone can understand this as been out for a few glasses of wine earlier

Have you credited the account with at least £100? I think that's a condition of opening the account/getting £50 for it.
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

The only issue I had, was when I credited the £100 as soon as I opened the account, it disappeared for 48 hours, then re-appeared again. Its something to do with the account being not fully opened yet, that could be something to do with it. Have you called them to find out why your overdraft has disappeared?
Debt free and staying that way!
  • Don't you need to switch your banking? EG direct debits wages etc?
