Cost effective shipping ....any tips?

Hello everyone I am new to selling on Ebay my first sale ends tomorrow and it's exceeded my expectations already so I am planning to list a few more redundant items ASAP. The thing that's always put me off is the minefield of shipping costs, who does the best deals for various weights/sizes of parcel. Has anyone already done a thread on this previously or is anyone prepared to share the knowledge to help save me some money and time?:money:

Thanks in advance:T

Hi, Most of the stuff I send royal mail. Weigh a parcel on kitchen scales and check the weight on the royalmail website which is www.royalmail.co.uk against the price, boxes grab from supermarkets, poundshops for bundles of jiffys even check ebay for packaging there are some competative prices, I also use www.auctionpax.co.uk for some grey plastic sacks which I find invaluable as I try to sell all my unwanted clothes!!

Yes do check through this side of the forum for great tips and join in you will pick up some great tips and useful bits of information!!

Good Luck and welcome to the world of selling!!

Hi Fay thanks for the reply, I was kind of hoping there would be a thread somewhere with info about who to use for say electrical items up to 10kg etc (eternal optimist I am LOL)

I have a couple of things I am thinking of listing, hi-fi bits, and I will limit it to UK bidders, someone told me Staples do a fixed price delivery for £8 but they have changed it recently and it costs upto £19.15 UK next day. I need to get exact weight but my scales have gone for repair so will have to borrow some.
