Sony 32" LCD TV - Sainsburies

I got a Sony TV and blu ray player from a Sony Centre with a five year guarantee then a year later a letter from Sony advising that the guarantee was due to run out and the option to renew it

You get what you pay for to a degree,

With the Sony sets they are coded with letters to tell you level of features and also quality.

Comet £299 but doesn't mention any guarantee

I think I will not collect the one from Sainsbury's as they do an auto refund after 7 days

May see if John Lewis's will now price match!

Before you do. Take note of your purchase date.

If you downloaded and read the vat back agreement. You might have missed this important bit.

UK residents that purchased an eligible Sony product from an authorised Sony dealer/reseller located in the UK between 28 October 2010 and 24 December 2010 (inclusive) are entitled to submit a claim for their Cashback

You won't be eligible now.

I will stick with what I have got for £329.99-vat=£280-£6.60 quidco cashback = total £273.40. I am not bothered about the five year guarantee. But then again I might phone Sainsburys customer service to have a try for it.

It's ok Dan it won't be in until after boxing day so seeing if I can get a better deal before then. Have emailed John Lewis re: price match and will get a reply tomorrow. If they do I will go with them as I've taken things back to JL before and they have a no quibble exchange/refund policy!

Purchased this set from J Lewis 12 days ago for £409.
I have also e-mailed them to price match local Sony store in Liverpool which has set for £299 with 5year warranty.
Sent vat back form to Sony worth £60 if J Lewis price match as their policy says that will give me another £110 making total about £240.
IF all goes well!!

I was told by the Sony shop this is not as good as the 403 which they have on offer for £380, as it has integrated hd freeview and the 401 one doesnt

I bought this set from Saisburys online but when I have asked about the 5 year warranty no-one seems to know anything about it.
Any ideas anyone?
