What do you do when you don't agree how to budget?

Can you sit down together and work out what everything is costing you over a year and think about any bank/overdraft charges to be attributed and then see what the real cost is. £3/4 for lunch might not seem like much but £1000 a year sound a little scarier.
How many activities are the kids involved in? It might need a bit of give and take so if he is going to cut back on the packed lunches then you can economise on the kid's activities.Est. debt free day April 2016 (ish) Debt at June 2010 £34,247.13Debt at Dec 2011 £27,499.09 (19.7% paid off)Working together with DH on our debts (twindad07)Long haulers supporters DFW #2560 -
Thanks all!
I think we have sorted it!
The kids do compulsary swimming lessons at school which have to be paid for and I'm happy to as they are making great progress. One also learns a language and the other does a sport. Also Beavers for the eldest. I don't think this is too much and we'll have a budget for them each month. In months where there are school holidays (and so less fees) we will use the budget for entertainment in the hols.
We are also going to have pocket money (cash) each. His will be for fast food, golf, haircuts and any nights out (rare). Mine is similar and is for haircuts, going out and any other frivilous things I might do!
He can't carry sandwiches around with him as he's on foot. He also works in town centre so easy access to food!
Will be back if we hit any more stale mates! Thanks for the suggestions!

glad you got it sorted! also have similar problems with OH. not with every day spending but with bigger things such as car. i want to get rid and he can get a moped- will save probably near £200 and we really need to save it! hes not keen. i said in an ideal world id like two cars but w ere only 22 and we cant afford it!! i would prefer to be able to eat and have a social life and have no car!!
anyway hope it works out for you and merry xmas! x0 -

I give myself "pocket money" its just the word I use for how much disposible income I have each month - its just a term (not mothering) just use whichever feels comfortable
OK I think the best way to resolve the differences is to get political, and I mean when you sit down you work out what are the most important issues for you and he for him and for each one you barter. So there are things I wouldn't do if it were me but my oh does - like leaving the tv on standby when he goes to sleep- and while his really grinds my gears there are other things that are really important to so we agree I won't say anything about the tv if he xyz
One time we had a barny and neither could see the others position so we agreed as the issue was more important to me he would conceede I would the next time we had a disagreement. Maybe something that this?DF as at 30/12/16
