supermarket cancelled but I am STILL waiting for a refund

Waitrose couldn`t get here and the driver phoned asking if it was ok with me if I cancelled. Naturally I said yes as he was the one in the van. The money came out of my credit card account on that day but I am still waiting for the refund that I was promised in an e mail. 4 working days since delivery day. Is this normal?

It could be fine. When you make a payment, although the you are charged straight away it can take some time for the money to reach the retailer.
Similarly, when they refund you it can take a while for the refund to reach you.
If you are worried, call them and check that they have actually processed the refund. If they have its just a case of waiting for the card processor and your bank to get the money to you.
  • I was told that a refund would be paid into my bank account. Fortunately I paid with a credit card as my bank is excellent at helping with disputes which arise from cc transactions . Today 13days later, I have still not been refunded the money so I have now opened a dispute via my bank

I am utterly shocked at waitrose poor customer service
  • I think they have 30 days to refund you your money.

I worked as a home delivery team leader for Sainsbury's.It can take up to 14 days from when the cancellation was processed.A cancellation has to be put thru the till system manually & then the paperwork inc till reciepts showing cancellation of sale is passed on to a back office for processing & fraud checks. (Fraud checks to ensure that it is a genuine transaction by both the shopper & the person who processed the cancellation)
