Mobile CCTV Smart Cars

Just wanting to pick your brains.

Is it legal for a COUNCIL mobile cctv smart car unit to be illegally parked (on a yellow line) in order to be best positioned near a yellow box junction so it can gain photographic evidence to use against motorists and to issue a FPN?

MANY THANKS

LD

  • Yep, unless they are causing an obstruction(quick phone call to bizzies if you want some fun) they have given themselves an exemption. Just like some of the council big wigs.

Most of the Councils claim that their Smart Cars have exemptions. Still good fun to take pictures of them with your mobile phone. :D Over in Chatham some of the drivers get agitated when you do so.

I did take a picture with my digital camera and funnily enough they haven't reappeared since doing so!

There's one parked up daily in Streatham, South London

I pass it on my way home everyday.

I still can't understand why this hasn't been challenged.

The Bikers protesting about Westminster Council charging motorcycles to park because they "cause congestion" follow the Smart cars around and indicate to other road users where they are. They have made quite a sport of it.

Check out the ukfrancebikers site to see what the bikers are doing about it, you could also check out nutsville.com
