Can I do this?

I have just transferred the balance from one credit card to another for the 0% rate. However I have made a payment to my old credit card so this should be £150 in credit (in the black). Can I use the card that has a credit of £150 to reduce what I owe on the other credit card without any sort of problems?

Many thanks.

Rob.

Well if you do a balance transfer you will have to pay the fees.
Also if you take it out of an ATM you will have to pay the fees.

So you won't face problems but you will face fees with some methods of payment.
The alternative is to get a cheque or BACS transfer or alternatively just spend it.
If it's a small amount then it shouln't take too long to clear it if you buy food and petrol.

Good advice from lisyloo. If I were in your position, and with it being a relatively small amount of money (£150) I'd probably just use the CC surplus in place of my "normal" cash spending - and then use that cash that I didn't spend to pay off the new card - if that makes sense?.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

  • I can see what you're getting at. I did a balance transfer to my new card but didn't know how long it would take. While it was being processed I received the bill for the old card so I paid £150 off that, however a couple of days later I received my new credit card and have checked and the balance transfer has completed about the same time as my payment to my old card. So my old credit card should have a balance of +£150 (in the black).

    Many thanks for the help

    Much appreciated and Merry Christmas
