dirty screen on LCD TV

I've just noticed that the right hand of our television screen looks like it has dirty marks on it. I've cleaned it but to no avail.

The other side of the screen is fine but there is fine grey smudges on the right.

Is this to do with the pixals, is there any thing I can do about it? I've googled but not found any thing similar.

Many thanks

  • I know there is a pixel repair progy for PC screens but let me look for LCD TVs

    Have a read of these.

Did the marks suddenly appear or is this a new TV? If so, contact the seller and arrange for a return.

Not sure if this is the reason for your problem but excessive pressure (i.e. a prod or whack) on LCD screens can leave permanent grey 'shadows'.
What shape/size are these smudges you've got?

They are a smudge shape if that makes sense! :o

Like a window that hasn't properly been cleaned.

Thats the best I can do!

Its only down one side of the screen and looks like you are peering thou a dirty pane of glass

Its grey and dirty looking. I have tried cleaning with a damp microcloth and I think it looks slightly better but that just could be wishful thinking.

  • Have you pressed too hard when you have cleaned it in the past? Excessive pressure when cleaning could have caused these marks, which would explain why they are a smudge shape.

    +1 for pressure marks.

Here's a few images of pressure marks. If it is one, there's nothing you can do:

On a google search that picture, or one similar, comes up as having pressure marks on the website.
