Hi My husband works for a big company and two years ago became sick.Meanwhile just after my husband became sick(2009) the company sent out letters to all their workforce offering them early release. Unfortunately we did not recieve this letter until after april 2010. If we had recieved it when we should have we might have considered this enhanced package, but we missed the boat as my husband is 51 so now he can,t retire until he,s 55. The company have admitted it was their fault. So he has remained on the sick but been advised that he is not fit for work and to put in for ill health retirement, which he did do, he had the full support off his consultants and his works doctor, who all produced reports supporting this. The company have had a meeting and my husband has been reused ill health retirement and the decision is final. Also the company have now finished paying him, so we are really confused as what to do next. Financially because we won,t have any moey coming in my husband says he will have to go back to work, even though all the doctors say he is not fit. My husband is a diabetic having 3-4 hypos a day and suffering from severe mental health issues. PLEASE culd you give us any advise

I don't understand.....did you get the letter in April 2010 in which case you could have accepted at that point? Or did you not get the letter at all?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Sounds like an appointment with CAB might be a good next move?

On a purely supportive note, are his MH issues a result of his diabetes? If so, then it is probably clinical and will continue to be a problem until his diabetes is under control? The two very often go hand in hand unfortunately. And stress really doesn't help.
If he is having 4 hypos a day that must be incredibly difficult on you both, mildly aggresive/stubborn/irrtional behavior is often a major factor with hypos. I wonder if his employer realises the effect they have on him - it is one thing reading it in a medical report but seeing someone have a hypo at work is pretty shocking unless the diabetic is so aware of their condition that they can recognise the signs very early and remedy them.

Hi He recieved the letter I thinki in March 2010 but when i emailed them about it they said that the deal was not open a longer0 -

a - when he got the letter the response should have been 'yes please'.
b - why are YOU emailing them?
Was the letter dated March 2010 and thus issued late or was it lost in the post?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
