Hello, can anyone help - I am about to compare and switch from British Gas and SWEB. While BGas conveniently show kwh on their bills, the SWEB bills just have units used and no clue whether this is kwh or not (or am I missing something...) would really appreciate it if someone could enlighten me here, as I've heard it os better to use the kwh figure when comparing, and I'm keen to switch, just having received my latest bills! thanks, John

you have electric from both British Gas and SWEB at the same time?0

Lord no! I've got gas from BG and electric from SWEB. The electric bill reads as units used (as on the meter), and is charged at so much per unit. Maybe electric doesn't come in kwh? Have I read the instructions on the comparison website wrong.. still confused! John0

ok sorry I just got confused, is each unit on the SWEB bill not a KwH then?0

A unit is the same thing as a Kw/h

thanks Jason, will get switching...0

Electric meter units are in KwH's.
However gas meter units are not, they are in cubic metres of gas. There is a simple calc to convert gas meter units to KwH's. And if anyone can remember what it is please feel free to post !anger, denial, acceptance0 -
For converting gas to kwh
Units *1.02264*2.83*calorific value ie40.1/3.6=kwhs0 -
you only multiply by 2.83 if the meter is an old imperial oneBeware the green?0
