Santa always brought a Stocking in our house - with loads of bits & pieces, sweets, new toothbrush etc in.
He NEVER brought us big presents, they always came from Mum & Dad, so when my Dad lost his job I knew that I'd not be getting a big present from them, but Santa still came all right!
That same 'split' has occurred in my own household - so if times were tight, our pressies to the lad were less, but Santa ALWAYS came. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
If I have kids I'm not gonna make them believe in Santa; I still remember how horrible it felt finding out he wasn't real when I was 6. I like what folk are saying about it highlighting the importance of being with family and how it breaks up the horrible winter months. However, in all reality considering I'm not religious and don't eat xmas dinner - it is a consumer holiday and the only good thing about it is the presents and getting time off work. I think I'd tell kids a xmas story of how it has come about and about what other people believe but that's about it.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190

Comp Wins 2014: None yet

This was the first Christmas since having children that neither of mine believed in Santa. My 15 year old daughter obviously hasn't believed in a while but wasn't sure about my 11 year old. Anyway he told me just before xmas that he didn't believe and hadn't last year but didn;t want to upset me!! Anyway I told them both to humour me and so we still done everything we would normally do. It was great and I will carry on next xmas. Also me and hubby do stockings for each other as well. :beer:0

When I think back to when I was a little girl and believed in Father Christmas it always makes me smile. Christmases were magical! Like many others my brothers and I used to leave out a carrot, mince pie and sherry. After we had been put to bed we used to get up and look out of our bedroom windows hoping to catch a glimpse of the sleigh or at least hear the sleigh bells.
The magic all came back years later with my own children....wonderful!0
