Seems like London has died down a bit tonight, but everywhere else is picking up. When will it end???
I've had a much better day with DD today thank god! Had a good day on the survey front too, a piney, 1 on viva and 1 on VO. the best it's been recently. Is it me or do they seem to be slowing down?!Making money for christmas 2012:santa2:0 -
Morning guys.
Cool with rain here today, so it might be ironing for me. I keep putting it off, but at this rate we will all be walking round topless on hols. It's a good day for it.
I'm glad to see some of the trouble is dying down. The area my in-laws live in was on the news this morning, but it was police controlling the gang who had turned up to stop people looting in their shops. I think London might now be ok, but I do feel for those in other areas. I read in liverpool that 4 fire engines were out of action because they had been damaged. The cost to fix it all is going to affect the majority, so I hope there are strong consequences to those who have done it. Most people are not like it thankfully.
Rufus - hope your son is ok. He and his colleagues have done a great job.
cornish - we seem to have phases with surveys - they do sometimes go a bit quieter, but it will pick up. It might just be more people doing them at the minute. January is always tight for this reason. Everyone is doing it.
I missed a parcel this morning. The postman brought it at 7:25, DH was in the shower and I was too busy snoozing to hear it. I slept better last night after poaching in the bath with my book for a good hour. Might do the same tonight. I feel better for it.
Have a productive day everyone. xx0 -
Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well and safe today.
Just heard on the news that 3 men have been killed in Birmingham. Apparently they were trying to defend their shops and a car was driven up onto the kerb and into them . I hope they catch the scum that did it and deal with it as seriously as they would if it hadn't happened during rioting. It's murder and I hope they lock them up for ever.
My brother lives in London and the rioting got very close to him at one point, thankfully it seems to be dying down a bit there now. I hope it gets controlled as quickly as possible everywhere else too.
Every police officer I know, from all parts of the country, have been sent off to deal with the riots. I hope your son is keeping safe Rufus.
If I was in charge (I can dream!) I'd send a public broadcast on every channel saying that in two hours the police/firefighters would be on the street using the water cannons and tasers (I'd LOVE to see them taser one of the cowardly looters :rotfl:). Therefore people have been given warning and can get off the streets. Any rioters still out there can then be dealt with quickly. I'm sure there are many flaws in my plan but I really like the idea of them tasering some of the idiots. My second idea was to arm all the police with paintball guns! Apparently they really hurt, so I'd let them shoot all the rioters with them, filled with red paintballs so they would think they'd been properly shot! Once they'd been shot with the paintball gun, and are probably rolling around on the floor crying, they could be easily arrested and thrown in a van.
In other news, I have my second scan today. I also have an appointment with the consultant after as I'm in a higher risk group for delivery with all the troubles when I had my son. Hopefully they'll be able to avoid all that this time.Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Ooh Nicky, my Son's GF had her second scan on Monday. Theirs is due beginning of December. Glad London was quieter last night, wondering whether it will all kick off again though. Makes you on edge doesn't it, was thinking of you Elysia xx
I withdrew £66 from PP yesterday, £50 was from my Folksy sale and rest was from EB. I managed to add two more things to my shop this morning as well as did some sewing yesterday. I made some placemats and a table runner. They didnt cost much to make as I was using up some small scraps I had.
I got another eview done this morning, so up to 12/25 now, nearly half way. I also claimed a £5 Am voucher from SB.0 -
I love it Nicky. Fully agree. See if they were so brave when they were rolling round on the floor. I think instead of paint though they should put that stuff that goes on bank notes or whatever that stains the person when they steal something. Mark them out for a bit as a low life.
If I were related to one of them I would have no problem with reporting them, and if it were one of my kids their life would be hell. I don't think mine would dare.
I saw one report where the teenage girl was saying you people don't respect us, and we don't respect you. I think what they are lacking is self respect. I think I could understand more if they were stealing essentials like food, but booze, designer clothes and electrical goods? Come on, save up like the rest of us.
I will stop being angry soon I hope.
Tried doing some surveys this morning, but got screened out after quite a bit, then got one for a product trial, but I won't be here on Monday to get it, so can't do that one.
Done a bit of rating so far, and no ironing, so I think i need to switch tasks.:rotfl:0 -
Woo hoo - I finally got a lie in. I didn't get up until 10.30. I closed all the curtains early last night, and we were in our own little world. I could hear sirens going left right and centre. I'm glad London was quiet - but they had 16,000 police out, Birmingham had 500. No wonder it's spreading - there's no-one around to control them. What are the parents doing? Forget the water cannons and plastic bullets - get out the real ones, that'll make them think. Did you see on the news - that 140 year old shop? Been through two world wars, and the depressions in the 20's and 80's, and it's now a pile of fire wood. I haven't had the news on today - too scary. It makes my blood boil.
On other news - Nicky - I hope your scan goes ok.
Rufus - I hope DS is still safe.
Michelle - think of your nightly soak, as starting to wind down for your hols - you deserve some 'me' time.
Pink - I hope you do well with your uni assignments - you're so right, they must come first.
Savvy - how's things with your course work? I hope you still love it.
Right, have to pop out now, but will be back later. I've just posted another review so re-rating everyone is first on my to do list. I'm at 16/25 now I think, I need to get writing some more at some point today.
Have a good afternoon everyone.

I am in Nottingham and took my son to the football (local derby last night). Whilst we were there a police station was firebombed, and 5 more attacked during the night. The football match took place without a single arrest being made so you have to commend the police and the 21600 people that were there. Was a bit surreal really, knowing that it was all kicking off outside. My brother is a police officer and he is back on duty today - scary stuff, but he chose to try and make a difference. The mindset of the people is awful, so many people jumping on the bandwagon and getting involved because they have nothing better to do. Put them on planes and send them out to Afghanistan if they want to fight - do it against people who want to cause destruction to the world, not to those who want to get on with their lives quietly. The country is in a bad enough state as it is without this. I am fearful for my children growing up in this world, god brings tears to my eyes just typing it.
On another note got an issue on ebay - had to open an unpaid item dispute for an item sold last month to a buyer in Germany, they eventually paid and I posted said item 2 days later. Now (surprise surprise) they are disputing receiving it - they have told ebay they have emailed me and had no response, the only correspondence I have had is this not received email from ebay themselves. Makes me mad cos I know that despite having proof of postage I can't do a darn thing about it. I'm going to block her and only post to UK from now on. Means when I refund her I'll lose 3 days of my £2.50 a day challenge.
Had a chilled day today so far, got to go and post some parcels and really need to do some ironing. Roast dinner for tea tho so am really looking forward to that. Have also sorted out all my paperwork and bills and am up to date. Just need someone to buy the Olympics tickets (football at Manchester Old Trafford 4th Aug 2012) that I can't use and I'll be back in the black...
Hope everyone is okay and safe in their towns and cities, stay safe xxMotto: You gotta be in it to win it!:j

Not the best weather pretty blustery but stayed dry so cant complain! Spent £30 on rides lunch and a toy and sweets in gift shop! Would have been more but used clubcard vouchers so getting in was free!
Need to get on a mission for surveys this evening as I am lagging! Had emails on Facebook from some next agent saying that the giftcards I was selling is not allowed and they may now be declined! So will have to take them into store tomorrow to check balance! Dont see how they lose out as whoever buys them will have to spend them in next! I have no use for them as my furniture is in Argos! Evening all
Shame about the gift cards legend, does seem silly if you cant sell them to someone else if you are not going to use them.
I managed two SN surveys this afternoon and another review so 13/25 now. Oh is back on nights again now so I wont get any machine sewing done for a few days. Might give me a bit more time to get some reviews done. The one I did this morning got a few more ratings to the last few so may be they are picking up again.0 -
Legend - rather than selling them at a loss on ebay - couldn't you put on FB and see if someone would give you face value for them? If they were spending the money there anyway...? I can't see how Next can not accept them, they were paid for, and that would be theft surely?
Foxy - I'm so sorry to hear about where you live. They've been firebombing police stations here too. Alls quiet during the day - it's after tea time it kicks off - they don't even wait until dark. They're just brazen. Grrr. Not had the news on all day - too frightening. Went to some out of town shops today (I doubt anyone would start there as it's one way in, and one way out and they'd be trapped), plumes of smoke in the distance, and police everywhere. I agree with you Foxy - if they want to fight - join up and do some good, instead of destruction.
Had a few surveys today - must do my rating now, and see if I feel inspired enough to do another review. I feel like I'm running out of things though.I :heartpuls M.S.E.
