Hi stressed, I know this won't help now but if you send any future ones by recorded (not special) its an extra 70p is (whichyou can charge the buyer for) & this lets you invoke Ebay seller protection as you have a tracking number. I think this means that if you can quote a tracking number Ebay takes care of it for you.
However DO NOT let the post office peep write the postcode on the POP in pen as this invalidates stuff for Ebay - my sister had this, & I have had PO peeps say handwritten is OK. Maybe for the PO but not enough for Ebay to find on your favour.Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!0 -
I don't think there is much extra benefit of sending recorded, if the item doesn't arrive with the buyer they will get refunded as the tracking still shows the item hasn't arrived and quite often the items aren't scanned correctly and never show as arrived even when they have (they do warn you of this at the post office). As long as you obtain proof of postage from the post office for every item sent you can claim the cost of postage and the cost of the item back from the posting officeComping wishlist for 2017

Sorry Savvy, but I must agree to disagree here. I'm a lot more suspicious of buyers through my ebay dealings. Since I have used only recorded delivery I have had a lot less postage queries, as has my sister who owns a shop and has a lot of international deliveries. Not sure whether that is because it is more likely to be delivered as signed for, or whether the recipient can't say they haven't received it if it isn't true.
Ebay say "If a buyer contacts us about an item that hasn’t been received, you can resolve the case by providing proof of delivery. We'll ask you to provide tracking information for your case that shows:- The delivery status of the item as delivered.
- The date of delivery (which shows you sent the item within your stated handling time).
- The buyer's address, displaying at least the town/city or postal code of the address shown on either eBay's Order Details page or PayPal's Transaction Details page.
- For items £150 or more, proof of the recipient's signature.
If an item was posted without tracking information, please let us know. We’ll review the situation, but may still find you responsible for refunding the buyer if the item hasn't arrived yet."
And Paypal say: "1.1 What is PayPal seller protection? We will re-imburse you an amount for Claims, Chargebacks, or Reversals made against you based on the following reasons:- A Chargeback or Reversal was issued against you for the reason of an “Unauthorised Payment”; or
- A Chargeback or Claim was issued against you for the reason of “Item Not Received”.
Thankfully never had to test this (touch wood) but seems to me that quoting a valid tracking number (backed up by a fully printed POP, as per my sister's case) should mean that you don't lose out. (Although I could be completely wrong here, & you get refunded after the fact - please let me know, anyone who has had experience of this). You also don't have the problem of people saying they haven't received it after a few days, when the PO does not consider an item to be lost until 15 working days after the due date of delivery. For 70p it seems reasonable investment if your item sells for more han a couple of pounds.Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!0 -

Zangels - review anything at all.
What did the kids get new for Christmas? (these are worth 30p per review) Make a list, see if they're added to DOOU catalogue, and work through them one by one. Kids toys are easy as there is only so much you can say about them. Try and remember to put in the costs, and where they can find it cheap at the moment. Put lots of spaces between the paragraphs, as it looks nicer and fills the page a bit.
Then work through the kitchen appliances. (60p per review plus rates)
Makeup, and contents of the bathroom, shower gels, body lotions (30p average plus rates)
If you are very desperate you can do food (only 10p per review) plus rates
If you're scraping the barrel - what's in your handbag, review of the year 2010, etc. (only get points for someone reading)
Look at the sitemap in the top right on doU for inspiration.

I have to sort car insurance for DD tomorrow - may take a while, but I have dooU and toluna on my 'to do' list.
Take care everyone and have a lovely Saturday.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Hmmm, I think if your working on the basis the buyer is dishonest then if they have the item they can't report it as lost, but in a normal scenario if the item is in fact lost paypal will always refund the buyer. The problem is many buyers would rather pay cheaper postage because recorded only protects the seller, but no more than a proof of posting would which is free (they give you a tracking number although it will only ever track as posted) Many would rather pay for just first class instead of the extra that is no benefit to them, it only ups the total of the item and often puts off buyers. The other thing to remember depending on who you deal with if you need to claim your lost item costs back from royal mail, you may only get the cost of your lost item refunded and not postage.
Having said that it is good practice if you run a business and worth every penny as people expect their items to be trackable.
It's just such a shame that there are so many dishonest people on ebay these days, it was what put me off selling in the first place, until I get good feedback I am always on edge after hearing so many awful stories of nasty buyersComping wishlist for 2017

Savvy, I'm with you there completely. I always put in a little note saying "please let me know via feedback that all received OK" & till that comes you never quite know how it will all go. However I must say that 99.9% of buyers are brilliant, it's just that 0.1% who can cause all sorts of a kerfuffle.Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!0
