Would it be worth saying this to Martin?
Just my opinion, and I may sound defeatest but I'm not sure he'd be bothered. If anyone wants to go ahead, I'll back you up all the way.

Ooh Nice. Apparently once I was shopping in Turkey. I wouldn't mind but they tried my card three times, it's a pity there was only 10p in my bank. :rotfl:

Sam not good about the bank thing, my hubby also thought it was hilarious!! funny thing is i changed my internet supplier yesterday so i could rejoin but i just cannot be chewed with the dribble you have to post!!

I did think of playing on my mobile, but I can't be bothered -If that's how they treat people.

I multi - quoted more than that. I've lost them, lol

Been a good morning, lots of surveys to do. I could redeem on ipsausage but I'll wait for the £10 (better value). I'm upto 56,thou on loony, with 5 surveys pending and three tracked incorrectly. I should be nearly at payout when they get applied, and I only redeemed on the 1st. :D

Just had some lovely news - My mum and S/dad, have bought my DD1 a car! An 03 Ford Ka. :j:j:j That will knock 3 hours off her travelling time to Uni and back, per day. :)

  • Try a second hand shop for needles and wool, and check out the internet for videos on how to knit, thats how I learnt to crochet. If you want to learn crochet take a look at the other thread I posted a link to a video on how to crochet.

Good news about the car Elysia, hope the insurance isnt too high. My sister was saying her daughter (shes 17 this year) is asking for driving lessons for her birthday but they looked up insurance for her and they were quoting about £4000!! She even looked at putting her on her insurance but still same price.

Savvy - I know what you mean about doing something crafty. I have been making a few bits here and there for past year "just in case" I can get a stall somewhere. Nothing like that happens round our way so this morning I have made the effort to go up and take photos of everything (some not come out so good but oh well lol) and have just put them all on my facebook as an album and asked my friends and family if they want to buy any of them or know anyone who would. Don't know if I will sell anything but its not going to sell stuck in my cupboards in boxes. I havent got many "friends" on there as I'm not the kind who just "adds" everyone, but I have set the album to be viewed by my friends and friends of friends too. Not sure how that works but its a start anyway. Hope you can think of something for yourself xx

Also try freegle or free cycle as it was/is. My daughter put on there that her Mum wanted some bits of wool to use up for something to do and I ended up with two big bags full of it and needles.

Good Idea Rufus. Pm me your name and I'll have a look - I'm always looking for something a bit different than what you can buy in the shops.

Savvy - Have you tried sock monekys? A pair of socks is what - about £1? Sock monkeys sell between £8 and £10 depending on the detail - you could set up a shop on folksy/etsy/ facebook. I've ALWAYS wanted to do that too.

18 months ago I was selling personalised cross stitch cards to my mums friends and on ebay. They were taking about 10 hours each to do, and I was getting £5. OK that's dear(ish) for a card, but with all those hours, and materials, it wasn't worth my while, so after six months I gave up.

DD passed her test before Christmas - we were all set to buy a car, and the insurance was double the car, and my mum and SD have bought the car, so now she can afford the insurance, fingers crossed. She'll have to put a bit more effort in and get a part time job to cover the running expenses and petrol. She doesn't have any get up and go though - she needs a bomb up her derrier.:rotfl:

  • Thanks ladies, I tried to join up with freecycle a while ago and then the guy who ran it locally contacted me to ask which specific neighbourhood I was in to be able to complete registration and then I heard nothing back after months of chasing it up! So freecycle out of the question, will definately have a look on youtube for some inspiration before getting the right tools.

Was thinking of doing sock monkeys but there are so many people making them I just can't see any I make selling. It sounds a little defeatest I know but I'm not sure there is much demand :(

Elysia - I remember when I passed at 17 I had ridiculous quotes from various places, I think I went with Bell insurance which worked out at around £680 third party fire and theft, that was on a 1.1 L reg fiesta and the year after I used Elephant (who I despise, long story). Ironically now several years on, I actually pay more for my insurance now for some odd reason.

Sock monkeys are so easy to make! If you can make them good enough and perhaps make clothes to go with them or cute little hats or whatever I'm sure you could sell them as kids toys or whatever.
