Mondeo door rust

If you own a Ford Mondeo built between 2001 and 2004, check the bottom of the doors for rust. I've just had four new doors fitted under Ford's corrosion warranty. Cars of this era did not have the seam sealant correctly applied and so the seams rust. As it's at the bottom of the doors it is not immediately obvious. You also need to be persistant with your dealer. The first one I went to refused my claim because they said the poorly applied seam sealant was evidence of a poorly executed repair!

They also said they weren't aware of a problem with Mondeos. Clearly they don't have access to the internet and Google. I spoke to Ford Customer Care who suggested trying a different dealer. I did this and the attitude couldn't have been more different. They processed my claim without question. They said that they are getting claims all the time at the moment and Ford are generally honouring the claims. The final bill to Ford was for the four doors plus over £1000 worth of labour. So if you have a Mondeo take a look and head on over to your Ford dealer.
