paypal payment saying unclaimed

I have bought a sit on lawnmower from someone on ebay and paid £450 on Saturday night via paypal. On my ebay there is an egg timer icon underneath the payment bit saying payment is unclaimed.
I have emailed the seller and he is saying the problem is my end as he has not had a message saying that the payment has been sent. He has good feedback but it is a lot of cash to mess about with.
any ideas?

Sounds like he may have give you the wrong email address to pay with. Ask him to check the paypal address that was sent to you was correct.
Tell him that you have paid to (insert email address here) - chances are he'll suddenly realise that he gave you the wrong address, or it was spelled wrong, or something. My TV is broken!

I, as a seller, had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. Payments by customers have always gone into my PayPal account automatically, but on this one occasion, it was sitting there asking me to accept it, I hadn't received a mail. No idea why, but I accepted it and all was fine.
Ask the seller to check his PP account, just to make sure it's not sitting there waiting for acceptance!I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
All sorted now. He hadn't had an e mail confirming the paymentI would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0

Pfft, if we all waited for ebay and paypal to send us emails before doing anything we'd all grow old and die
