16 year old cat suddenly refusing to go outside - advice please!

It's cold and he is no fool! We had a cat that if it was raining at teh back would ask to go out the front thinking it might not be raining out the front! Alternatively if there are shrubs etc. closer to teh front door than the cat flap less snowy ground to run on to find a loo!

If it makes you feel better mine do think they want to go out and keep asking me to open the door so they can check if the snow has gone, when I do they stand on two r three legs looking disgusted and cross. You can't win with cats!

Thanks for the replies maybe it is the cold weather that has finally put him going out - although it never bothered him in the past maybe he is just too old to face it now - thought maybe would be better today as the snow has virtually disappeared but he still refused to go out.

Or perhaps he just finds it amusing to have me standing in the freezing cold holding the front or back door open while he sticks his head out, looks one way, the other way, back again, repeats this a few times and then turns around and rushes back upstairs to bed and leaves me standing there looking like a lemon

Only one of my three(the youngest who is 3) has been going out in this weather my oldest is 14 and has not been out much, think it's to do do with the cold weather
