best bits:
planning
looking for perfect present
seeing my childrens and husbands faces when they open presents
worst:
the waiting these last few days are killing me
worring you have everything you need
braving the cold and shops christmas in summer would be great
the expense i didn't plan or start early enough0 -
My ABSOLUTE favourite part of the whole shebang is after midnight, early hours of Christmas day when all the children are sleeping. After the gifts are set out I put the lights out and just have the tree lights on. I just take a few minutes to myself (OH has gone on ahead) to enjoy the lovely glow and anticipation of what the morning will bring. It's the most magical moment for me and I like taking the time to just appreciate everything we have and how lucky I am.
Worst part - when it's all over

Stops the kids running in early and unwrapping everything before I get a chance to see them :rotfl: Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Best
Excuse to eat and availability of some different foods n treats
The Christmas songs playing / few different tv progs
Give and receive some affordable gifts
As just puss n me - I can hog the Tv Remote, eat what/when I like / nobody to gas after the Brussel Sprout Fart Balls
Worse
The thought of going to the hectic supermarkets or shops
How to choose what to get somebody as a gift
Turns out to be an anticlimax and soon over!!
If gain weight trying to get it off!!!0 -
Do you know, I'm 61 with adult grand children down to baby grandchildren and I still miss the Christmas morning mad dash to open presents from the kids. I miss the night before, the ceremony of leaving a mince pie and a glass of sherry on the hearth, and making sure the glass is empty and there are only a few crumbs on the plate when the kids saw them. bliss..........
Waking us up at 6am was always part of the excitment, jumping up and down on our bed, its time, its time, he's been.
So if you are going through this now - enjoy every single moment, Santa soon goes into oblivion.
I envy every moment of your time on Christmas morning.
This made me cry.
My favourite parts of Christmas include getting up with my brother at 6am and waking my M&D up to go see what Santa's brought (we're both in our 20's!) and spending a few precious days with my family all around me :rudolf: :santa2: :snow_laug
The worst part is definitely taking down the decorations.......I'm depressed just thinking about it.0 -
i love being with my husband and our 3 children. spoiling our little ones rotten, knowing they will absolutly love it. Having a wonderful family time together from the second we open our eyes. and making lots of memories. playing loads of games, having laughs and giggles. i love the kids eyes light up like bright sparkling diamonds when they see the present's. and the 2 second pause as they take it all in, before they ask, can we open our pressies ( so polite it fantastic)
bit i hate............... The times just flies by and goes way too fast.
This made my eyes fill up, so lovely, especially the bit about making memories, i think that xmas is such a special time for people with families to enjoy being around the people they love and care for and i feel so much for the people out there on their own at this time of year:(
My fave bit is bringing all of the presents down on xmas eve when the boys are in bed and seeing their faces when they think santa has done it all, i love seeing them jump up and down on my bed, opening their stockings and seeing pure delight on their faces at the 99p colouring book wrapped up amongs a satsuma and gold coins, i love the calm of the evening when everyone is full to the brim and the quality streets come out and the tv is good, and we reflect on the day, and i also love love love the fact that i can stay in my jammies all day in the warm as it is just my oh and sons and no visitors, so it really doesn't matter if we snuggle under blankets with chocolate all day :rotfl:
Bits i hate are cleaning everything up, it seems like a constant battle on xmas day, and thats about it i think, i love it all!!:j:j:j0 -
I love putting the presents out for the kids on christmas eve, they've made name signs to go on the settees so santa knows where to leave presents, i do the santa footprints on the hearth as well, i love watching the kids open their presents, i love eating the dinner, but get sick of preparing it.!! i prefer Boxing Day so i can have a rest and a buffet!!0

Make yourself happy on Christmas morning,
Put an upbeat CD on LOUD, dance around whilst opening your presents, laught out loud........does wonders for your morale,
Ive had to do it once.
Offer to help at a homeless shelter, or something like that.
Hope yo have a lovely Christmas.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
