What are your favourite parts of christmas? What are your most hated??
And what are you really looking forward to this year??
My best bits would be probably the dinner with my family
Worst is knowing that my OH is a bit of a scrooge and wont be enjoying the festivities as much as everyone else
Im really looking forward to seeing everyones faces this year, especially my 12yo brother's. This is my 1st xmas working, so I have been able to spend more than £5-10 on everyone, but they dont know that yet
brother has a PSP so am gunna have the video camera out!!

thats really nice that your in a position to spoil people this year. i love picking the perfect present for people, knowing that they will love it. i hope your brother enjoys it!
my favourite part of xmas is actually xmas eve. i plan to spend the day getting my kids (dd is 2 and ds will be 4 on the 29th)gee'd up! i remember when i was younger and the excitement of thinking about santa coming and guessing what presents id get was the best feeling EVER! i fully plan to recreate this with my kids every single year that i can!
another favourite is seeing my kids faces as they walk into the living room and seeing their piles of presents, priceless! dh always goes into the room first 'to check he's been' and has the camcorder on so i can watch their faces over and over. :T
worst is probaly the worrying over dh's present! as i said earlier i put a lot of thought into giftbuying and as the closest person to me, you'd think itd be easy to buy him the perfect gift. but no, hes so hard to buy for:mad: and i worry every year that he will like what ive got him!Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Worst part -
*last moment errands in bad weather
*eating the meal then discovering something's left in the oven
*clearing and washing up especially saucepans and oven trays
*forgetting to defrost meat
*cooking meals and doing housework days beforehand
*peeling veg in a freezing cold kitchen
Best part -
* done in advance (wrapping, sending off cards, food) sense of relief
*family get togethers go well
*food and table preparation goes like clockwork
*kids happy with presents0 -
Best part is christmas morning when were coming down the stairs with 2 dd's, you can feel the excitement in the air, watching them open their presents, chilling out not worrying about work and seeing all the family (though we do see each other most days).
Worst is the run up, not christmas eve but these few days now, at the minute my list is getting longer an longer, just little bits and bobs, Oh apparently needs english mustard, forgot to get some pate, wanted some satsumas for socking, need a feather duster to get all the cobwebs. etc etc etc, it feels like its never ending. All the big stuff is done, present buying, wrapping and food shop but its the little bits.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
I'm a bit lost at the moment, Im usually dashing round food shopping but my daughter and partner have bought a lovely new bungalow, we have been invited for Christmas lunch and we are going away on boxing day.
Love being with my family at get togethers and my son, daughter and 2 lovely grandaughers are coming on New Years Eve for a couple of days so I'll be doing the dashing round next week to give them another Christmas lunch. Cant wait.:j:j:jmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
i love being with my husband and our 3 children. spoiling our little ones rotten, knowing they will absolutly love it. Having a wonderful family time together from the second we open our eyes. and making lots of memories. playing loads of games, having laughs and giggles. i love the kids eyes light up like bright sparkling diamonds when they see the present's. and the 2 second pause as they take it all in, before they ask, can we open our pressies ( so polite it fantastic)
bit i hate............... The times just flies by and goes way too fast.0 -
I also Love xmas eve, that sense of excitement is brilliant!
Last year was the worse christmas EVER, for me anyway. I had moved out of home a few months beforehand and so it was the 1st one away from my parents and brother. I totally missed having him wake me up, making my parents a cuppa, watching him open his stocking and then all opening presents together
We still went up there for lunch but we'd missed the main present opening and the general night before and early morning excitement
Thats why we're going back! I think this year will be brilliant
Everyone will love their gifts (mum has some jewellery, a jumper and what she asked for, dad has a jumper, liverpool stuff and what he asked for, and kyle a psp and bits to go with it) rather than just having the cheapest thing they could think to ask for. And it will feel like christmas again

Unlike many my views might be different!
My best part is remembering what Christmas really about and that is the birth of Christ!
The worst is that people remember and enjoy eveything else not connected to this!!
My view!:)0 -
Do you know, I'm 61 with adult grand children down to baby grandchildren and I still miss the Christmas morning mad dash to open presents from the kids. I miss the night before, the ceremony of leaving a mince pie and a glass of sherry on the hearth, and making sure the glass is empty and there are only a few crumbs on the plate when the kids saw them. bliss..........
Waking us up at 6am was always part of the excitment, jumping up and down on our bed, its time, its time, he's been.
So if you are going through this now - enjoy every single moment, Santa soon goes into oblivion.
I envy every moment of your time on Christmas morning.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

mckneff, for the reasons mentioned above this is why my hubbys parents always stay xmas eve with us. so they can still enjoy the mad crazy bustle of it all.0

My best bit is when the kids go to bed on Christmas eve, and you get all the presents out and lay them in piles in the living room. When you see what they have, all neatly wrapped (whether it's a little pile like DD1's all little stuff like jewellery and makeup (she's 19) or a bit pile like DD2 all biggish boxes (she's 7). They both have the same amount spent on them though. I just look at it and think 'I did that'. 'I put the magic into their childhood' 'I made their Christmas wishes come true' Santa just gets the credit
. I sit their pondering for a few moments and it makes me want to cry. I love it.
Worst bit - OH being ungrateful with every present he opens. One of these days i'm gonna give him a clout around the ear.
. He opens aftershave and it's 'Do I smell?' Socks and it's 'Boring!' A new DVD player/Camcorder/TV etc ' but I wanted this one' Grrrrrrrr I :heartpuls M.S.E.
