Hello, I have been a inactive on here for a long while.
I am looking for some opinions and advice on ASU cover. I currently pay £40 per calendar month (£480 pa) for a policy that will pay out £1k per month for up to 12 months, maximum £12000.
Can somebody help me with the maths here? Is that like them saying that that I am 25/1 against to lost my job? If so it sounds about right.
It does feel like I am paying a bit too much and I would like to back myself to find another job even in a difficult climate.
Whats everybodies personal opinon on this, nescesary or a con?

Yep, 25/1 to loose your job or be unable to work due to sickness or accident.
In reality the odds they use will be much higher as some of your premium will disappear in commission and overheads which are fixed whether you claim or not so the actual % paid out in claims will be smaller (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was considerably smaller)
Whether you need it depends on your personal circumstances, basically could you live on benefits?
If you decide you do need it then look around for the best value policy, plenty of knowledgeable people on here will point you in the right direction and look at the suggestions on the main MSE site0
