Hi all, house was certified dry on 31st March  Contractors went in on 18th April to replace ceilings, wallpaper etc, and kitchen flooring is yet to be done as is the internal stuff like carpets, furniture etc.

It's been a long haul and I;ve had to chase & chase contractors as no one knows what the other is doing, absolute nightmare.

Mum is still living with me, that's another nightmare :D

Her neighbours are supposed to be in by end May. We'll see.
  • My fren had her house flooded and it took 6-7 mths for everything to be done. Bearing in mind your mom will have a brand new house or should have. Including furniture , carpets and whatever was damage by the water pipe burst. Whilst their house was being sorted the insurance company house them in a hotel and later on in a rented house( which they choose to do as it was more comfortable for them, i.e. able to cook).

The neighbour's insurers paid up, even though they left the country and didn't turn their water off and/or drain down?

After endless delays, confusion, bad communication etc I am happy to say that my Mum was able to move back into her house. Only took 7 months....

They took down a ceiling that didn't need to be taken down.... re-decorated then said the house needed re-wiring.... couldn't get the boiler to work....forgot to order the carpets.... lost the last page of the work schedule....it went on and on.

    But all done now :D

What caused the burst? Was the heating not on enough to stop the pipes freezing? Has all possible been done to eliminate the risk of it happening again?
