Hi all,
I am sure this is commen, I posting ma a christmas card, a week later i get a call from her informing me she had received a card from the Royal mail informing her I had underpaid the postage by 19p.if she wanted the card she would need to go and collect it, paying £1.19p
I telephoned customer service to get some clairty, but even more confused on postage.CS told me each post office has a gaget in the postoffice to check what postage I need to pay. I was also told somethong about information on the back of stamps, and buying a gaget from staples.
I know gone are the days where you can buy a stamp and post, can anyone give any understanding on how i know which postage to put on enevelopes, or so i simply have to que at the post office each time???
I guess this system explains why there are so many ques at post office, postage and the understanding of it, seems very confusing.
Put simple, how do i tell what postage to use to ensure letters get to there destination????

Most cards now have a little picture of an envelope on the back where the manufacturer details are. This states whether it needs a letter (i.e. normal postage stamp) or a large letter stamp.
Basically if it's larger than a standard A5 envelope or more than half a cm thick then you need to pay for a large letter.
You don't have to queue at the post office, the guide is usually kept with all the leaflets and things so you can just walk in and use it. Lots of card shops keep one on or behind the counter so that they can sell you the right stamps.0 -
oh ok, so basically i just need to consult the back of a card next time, or as you said, anything over A5, cant use normal postageTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0
