overdraft charge

Recently had a cheque cashed by someone over a month since I sent it. Hadn't realised so shifted excess cash from current account to e-savings. Didn't notice and went shopping, building up £95 of overdraft fees in 2 days, quickly shifted money back when realised.
Completely out of character and mortified to waste money on fees. Any ideas if I can claim it back or how to argue against it?

If you've not been let off charges before I would contact Nationwide and ask politely for them to set aside the charges as an act of goodwill. Banks usually do that once. Also try to arrange a modest overdraft on the account. Arranging the overdraft is free and if you had had one in place you would only have paid a small amount of interest.
  • :) Thanks Apt. They've let me off this time. Had an arranged overdraft of £50 but wasn't enough so will extend it in the future, straight away looks a bit dodgy. Set up text alerts now too to help me keep an eye on things

Why would you post that two weeks after the OP has stated the matter's been resolved?
