Where to live around Harrogate?

We are looking to relocate due to work. We live south at the moment and don't have a clue where to start regarding nice areas.

We have a child of 9 so a good school is important. My husband actually works near Bradford but I don't want to live there. I have in my head a nice house in an emmerdale sort of village! Sort of on its own with a bit of space around it.

£500k to spend. But from what I have looked at so far that does not get you my emmerdale house! What are the nice villages to live in?

Thanks

Harrogate is part of the golden triangle and is very nice but expensive and becoming more popular with people who are relocating.

If you want secluded, look at places like Malton, Thixendale, Shebun-in-elmet, Helmsley, Stillington.

These places are more like a village type emmerdale scenarion, but remember with that scenario you may also have to face the prospect of only electric heating and septic tanks etc.

Its not grim up north ---- just cold :)
