If you got the bmi card, you have the option of using part air miles and part cash - you'd only need 22k air mile for that, which isnt much more than the free number (20k) given away with the card. You can then fly to Logan with United Airlines.

i do have the BMI card with 22,000 miles saved ......yet i was unaware that United flew to Boston ( direct at least) from u,k. or that they were a Star alliance partner that you could use Diamond club miles with.

do you simply ring up the diamond club and they sort the United flight out for you ???

    from http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/diamondclubhowtospendmiles.html
You can now spend your miles on bmi flights online. To do so simply sign into your account and view the "spend miles online" area. Or simply call the diamond club blue card line on 0870 606 9977 8am-8pm Monday to Friday or 9am-6pm on Saturdays. In addition, you can spend your miles with any Star Alliance member airline by calling the diamond club priority reservations line.

Rememebr it's not just star alliance - https://www.staralliance.com you can spend bmi points on. they also include bmibaby, Virgin atlantic and Qatar. again see link at top for how many miles required etc.

It doesnt matter if they dont fly direct - you will get the connection as part of your ticket. This has happened to me several times when flying to Detroit, Toronto and Montreal.

Assuming your refering to BMI - http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/diamondclubhowtospendmiles.html (as posted earlier) it's got the miles and the part cash/miles requred.

It is literally half the number of air miles plus cash - you will need to call them to find out on the relevant Diamond Club line. Unless you are a gold card holder, you will be put through to India (thats a perk for us regular high flyers :D)
