Just come round to renewing our contents insurance, we are 3 who share a 3 bed flat, one of the other tenants is my bf (new relationship so nothing serious just yet) and we are all named on the AST.
Endsleigh are the only ones who do this type of contents insurance (so I beleive, if anyone else does then I'd like to know).
Last policy was in my name, the renewal quote was £188p.a (up from £107 last year with no claims), this was for me registered as 'single'.
On to Endsleigh website trying the policy in my other two flatmates names. One is a nurse, the other a carpenter. If I put it in my bf's name and state we are co-habiting with one other tenant then the price drops to £135. In my other flatmates name as a single girl its £145!
Go figure - same house, same people, all with no claims Hx. Insurance companies are using 'risk assessment' instead of common sense for sure!
I'm a bit wary about stating the 'co-habiting' however as they then want data on both my and my bf but not the third flatmate. As its a 'new' r;ship I'm not sure I want my details linked with is at the moment - Am I being too cautious do you think?
Also, Endsleigh inform me we cannot have the policy in all our names which seems a bit daft.. say for instance I hold the policy and I decide to be a bit mean to my flatmate who's damaged the carpet and refuse to allow her to claim cos it's MY policy and I don't want the claims history - would become a bit of a mess wouldn't it?

I have the Endsleigh tenant insurance and it was the only one I found. Its so silly about the named policy holder thing, I found the same thing, it was over £50 cheaper for it to go in my OH's name than mine, I guess as he works full time and Im still a student - but stupid really though for the same house etc.
Im not really sure how it works in regards to the policy holder and additional policy holders, but I think as long as they are named on the policy they can claim? I could be wrong though....MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Hi there,
I work for Letsure; we do the same sort of policy (cover will be slightly different from supplier to supplier so it's always a good idea to compare policy wordings if you're looking about) and you can name up to 6 people on the one policy. There are various other providers offering similar policies as well - HomeLet and Rentshield Direct as a couple of examples.
Always a good idea to look around anyway. I won't list a load of things to look for on here because I don't want it to come across like a sales pitch, but if you google tenants insurance you'll find a number of providers, and if you ask them for policy summaries (key facts documents) you'll be able to see the main covers and exclusions and draw comparisons based on those.
Cheers
