Far too many presents!

Why does she get a stocking, a santa sack and presents hanging on the tree. Are these all from you?
Well she wasn't going to get a sack this year as we are struglling so I mae her a little stocking up from freebies and small comps wins id won this year and those childrens only pay postage deals. But now she has a sack from Santa it seemed sill to give her the stocking aswell on Christmas Day so I though I would leave it untill boxing day as an extra.
Then my parents gave my and OH our xmas present cash early so we could pay the bills and get some presents and I picked up some really good bargins from the grabbit forum for her main presents under the tree & her sack.
We've always had tree presents since before I was born so its just a tradition in our family.
I've only spent now about £70 on her but its equated to alot of stuff! It wasnt too much but OH's family have brought her alot this year as they have become abit better off so have really pushed the boat out! we just werent expecting the shear volume of presents that they've both recieved.
Even the baby has loads!

Eh? what are you on about? of course its not stealing her christmas presents it was an idea on how to eke them out, so there weren't too many to open all at once.
These are presents bought by family members for christmas not presents to be put away for birthdays or treats.
If op wants she can remove her own presents to her duaghter and give them at another time butnot presents others are giving0 -
Surely you don't need to give her things like a flannel / toothbrush etc as christmas presents. I would suggest you take those out of the pile, and maybe some of the more 'normal' clothes and just give them to her as and when she needs these items replacing0

These are presents bought by other people for her daughter, it would be rude to give them away even to the most deserving of charities. If these people people had wanted to give to charity i am sure they would have.
I was referring to the stocking & tree presents. I was going to say that originally, but thought it would be dumbing down my post too much as it was obvious0 -
Thanks everyone its given me some food for though, I think spreading it out over a few days is a good idea. I always go upto her room a few days after xmas and we go through her toys and take a big bag to the charity shop, which I hope they will continue even when Santa doesnt visit aymore!
RE: the toothbrushes and flannel (its not really a flannel its a really gorgeous wash mit shaped like a mermaid!) Well its really sad but I wanted to have some little bits in there that I could re-buy every year so even when they are all grown up I can still do them a little stocking/basket with pjs, flannel, toothbrush etc... To start our own tradition really, as were following on the tradition of my christmas's growing up!
I'll eke the days out as long as I can and see how she gets on, I might give them a couple of presents xmas eve and on boxing day.
I loved doing the shoe boxes growing up and I cant wait to start doing these with my two! We would of done them this year but the drop off is really far away!Had my amazing little girlie 08/12/2007 - 11 days late! 9lbs 3oz

Could you make up a Xmas eve hamper with some of the clothes etc that she opens before bed/afternoon Xmas eve, then she can wear the outfits over xmas, maybe if you know anyone has bought her a DVD or pjs they can go in. We always had this as children then a lod Xmas morning then at my Grandparents on Boxing day Santa would visit again. Xmas in our family was always three days not one.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!0 -
Maybe too late for this year but if some of those presents under the tree are from grandparents and so on could you suggest they stay at their house and get given on whatever day you see them and have a second christmas then. We'll be going to my parents on Boxing Day, the kids will get their presents off of them and my brother and my grandmother then, whereas we won't be seeing the ILs over xmas (MIL going to Germany to stay with SIL) so those presents will be done here.
Also could do one present Christmas Eve (in our house new pyjamas and a DVD for us all to watch)0 -

It's funny how every household does christmas differently isn't it, in our house all the presents are under the tree, except for the little ones which go in their stockings. Everything is from Santa in our house as well.0

I remember the Christmas, just before my son was 3 and we wrapped all of his small presents seperately so that he would have lots to open. (Like OP, didn't spend much, just had lots of small gifts)
On Christmas morning, he was in an absolute pressie-opening frenzy! He got to the point where he was literally just tearing off the paper and throwing the present aside to move onto the next one. As relatives turned up later on, there were more and more presents to open, it was quite comical at the time. Until his birthday, 3 weeks later. As soon as anyone came into the house, he would shout "where's my present?" and actually tried to get delve into my mum's handbag, looking for his loot! We were so embarassed and from then on, limited the amount of unwrapping that he had to do, wrapping two or three things up together if necessary.
Of course, now that he is older, we can spend a fortune on a couple of computer games and it hardly looks like anything at all. I'm now back to the stage of wrapping up pyjamas, toothbrushes and deodorant just so that he has more to open in the morning!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
