Gift certificates sent to addresses of named recipients only- Why?

My son and his wife live in New York. For Christmas I thought I would send them two gift certificates, for an evening out, to be used jointly or individually in future. I logged onto the site concerned to purchase these and was prompted for their individual names and addresses. It seems you have to have the certificate made out to someone specific and then have it delivered to the named person's address.
This is giving me a headache. They travel a lot and their work takes them away separately as well as together. At present they are away (together) so my son asked me to send their mail to him c/o his office as otherwise it is liable to go walkabout somewhere up town in NYC and they have to go chasing around to get it back, that or the package gets thrown on the front steps (they live in an old house made into apartments) and it is pot luck if they get it. This happened with last year's Christmas present and some of their wedding presents.
So sending stuff to his office in his name works well. The problem with the evening out gift vouchers being sent there is that my daughter in law is a professional singer and kept her own name on marriage. She has never used her "married" name to my certain knowledge. So sending her a gift certificate in her name to my son's office would be a waste of time, they would have no idea who she is. (Also his company is much too large to tell the post room to look out for it.)
I emailed the organisation concerned to say I wanted to buy two named vouchers, for son and dil, and have them sent in one envelope to his office but they did not reply.
I can see that making gift certs not transferable means they cannot be stolen and used by someone else, but surely it should be possible for the buyer to request several name certificates can be sent to one person in the household in one envelope?
