NATWEST payment protection insurance

Can anyone offer me any advice on this please ???
In June of this year, my employment contract was not renewed.
I'd worked in my department for just under a year.
At the start of November I requested that Natwest send me the forms
so that I could utilise the payment protection I have paid for, for my
Mastercard.
(June - November, I perhaps wrongly assumed that I would land another job before too long!)
The first problem I encountered was that the forms took AGES to turn up -- over a month later, and only after making 3 phone calls to chase them up, and writing a letter of complaint.
The second problem is: I've just got off the phone from a member of the relevant team, who rang to apologise for the delay in my getting the forms.
She also told me that as I had not been employed for a full year, I wouldn't be eligible for the insurance anyway.
Is this right ????
(I have requested a copy of the terms and conditions)
And also, when I asked the chap at the jobcentre for the AB01, he
mentioned that it is quite common for the banks to ask for
information which is really beyond their jurisdiction.
What DO i have to tell them???
Any help forthcoming will be greatly appreciated!

I would be surprised if you were covered if you were on a fixed term contract. You definitely need to check those t&cs.0

Yes, I think that may be the case too...
Although, I had my contract extended 3 times.... Had reasonable grounds
for thinking I'd be kept on - was good at my job, and good relationship with senior management etc ....
Not that that counts for a lot, I suppose ;-(0
