6 dangers of using a debit card

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/6-dangers-using-debit-card-yahoofinanceuk-1457504971.html

It says using a debit card won't boost your credit history. It doesn't anything about a debit card with overdraft...

Using a debit card on an account with an overdraft does not improve your credit file and the account will report to the CRAs regardless of whether a debit card is used (not all banks report to CRAs in any event)

Most people I observed recently were using debit cards rather than credit cards at the supermarket :p

There have been posts on this forum from people who order groceries online using a debit card, the order is then cancelled and they have to wait for pending funds to be released before they can spend their money

People ordering goods from scam websites usually use a debit card judging by posts on mse

But they still use a debit card rather than a credit card :D

On occasion I have seen a self-service checkout accepting "cards only" , it seems that people would rather queue longer to use a checkout that accepts coins than use a card - or perhaps they do not have a card or do not use it for low transactions

There have been posts on the credit card forum from people whose credit cards have not been renewed due to not using them ;)

I always pay by credit card

You could cut yourself with your debit card or someone could throw one at you and it could hit you between the legs. Very painful and dangerous.

They can also snap at cold temperatures when being used to clear ice from the car windscreen.

How is "won't build up your credit score" a danger of a debit card? A library card won't build up your credit score, but we don't call them dangerous do we?

The skimming argument is also counter-intuitive. Surely if you pay for everything by debit card then you won't need cash and therefore won't need to use ATMs, and won't be at risk of skimming?

Also quite useful for scraping burnt bits off pans.:D
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
  • The best idea that I've always found is to simply use your credit card like a debit card by setting up an automatic full payment from your savings account to your credit card on the due date every month.

this way you still get the interest free days and any rewards points, but don;t have to pay any interest on the purchases (provided that you hvae enough funds in your savings account) and don't have to worry about failing to pay by the due date on your credit card statement.

I think that person needs to go to the "putting debit cards in your back pocket class". If you put it in flush with the pocket, rather than at a right angle, your friend will no longer encounter this problem! :D
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
